Week 13, Day 2 — A minute with the Word
Series: 2024 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the word…
Numbers 35.34 — “Do not make the land unclean where you live and where I dwell; for I, the Lord, reside among the Israelites.” (CSB)
This command for the Israelites to not defile the land shares a similar tone with other places in the Scriptures where God tells His people to be holy because He is holy (Leviticus 11.45, 1 Peter 1.16). When we are in a covenant relationship with God, there are consequences to our actions. If we defile ourselves by sinning and transgressing God’s law, we are out of fellowship with God. We must always strive to walk in step with God, because without being holy, we will not see God (Hebrews 12.14).
1 John 1.7 — “If we walk in the light as He Himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.” (CSB)
