Series: 2024 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
The whole of Deuteronomy 13 is echoed in the principles of the New Testament. “Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump? Cleanse out the old leaven that you may be a new lump” (1 Corinthians 5.6-7). “Do not be deceived: ‘Bad company ruins good morals’” (1 Corinthians 15.33). “Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them” (Ephesians 5.11). “Abstain from every form of evil” (1 Thessalonians 5.22). “As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, ‘You shall be holy, for I am holy’” (1 Peter 1.14-16).
