Week 15, Day 3 — A minute with the Word
Series: 2024 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the word…
Deuteronomy 30.19-20 — “I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you today that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Choose life so that you and your descendants may live, love the Lord your God, obey Him, and remain faithful to Him. For He is your life, and He will prolong you days as you live in the land the Lord swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.”
God gave the Israelites a choice. They could choose to do what they wanted to do, follow their own selfish desires, and ultimately be removed from the land that God had promised to them. Or, they could abide by the words of the covenant they made with Him, do His will, and serve Him only and be blessed. They ultimately chose to do what they wanted to do and ignore God’s warnings. We too have a similar choice before us today. We can choose to live as we want to live…and face the consequences of an eternity separated from God. Or, we can choose to live according to the commitment we made to Him when we were baptized into the blood of Christ, and we can be blessed beyond all measure and enjoy eternity with God in Heaven. The choice is set before you today. What will you choose?
