Week 15, Day 5 — A minute with the Word
Series: 2024 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the word…
Joshua 1.9 — “Haven’t I commanded you: be strong and courageous? Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord God is with you wherever you go.” The words spoken by God to Joshua were given as encouragement for the task that was at hand. The people of Israel were on the doorstep of taking possession of the land that God had promised to Abraham back in the book of Genesis. God wanted Joshua to take courage before embarking on this task, knowing that God would be with them. He would not let them fail, they just needed to trust Him. While we may not be taking possession of the physical land of Canaan, God has promised us a home in heaven with Him if we are faithful to do His will and serve Him in this life. We too must be strong and courageous as we live our lives on this side of eternity. God will be with us, just as He was with the Israelites.
Romans 8.31-32 — “What then are we to say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us? He did not even spare His own Son but offered Him up for us all. How will He not also with Him grant us everything?”
