Week 16, Day 3 — A minute with the Word
Series: 2024 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the word…
We recently witnessed a phenomenon in the total solar eclipse, where the moon passed directly in front of the sun, giving us a few minutes of darkness in the middle of the day. We read of the opposite phenomenon happening in chapter 10, where the sun stood still for about a whole day to help the Israelites defeat their enemies. But perhaps the most amazing thing mentioned here is the large hailstones coming from heaven, killing more people than the sword did.
The One who caused all of this to happen is God, Creator of the universe, the One who has power and control over everything. This is the God who fought for Israel. And when He fought for Israel, they dismantled their enemies. This is the God who fights for us as well. While He may not send hailstones from heaven or make the sun stand still, He does help us defeat our enemies if we put our trust in Him.
