Week 16, Day 4 — A minute with the Word
Series: 2024 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the word…
Romans 8:31 comes to mind when reading these three chapters: “What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us?” God was for Israel; He was fighting for them. Because of this, none of their enemies could defeat them, and their enemies were very afraid of them because they knew God was fighting for them. Because God was on their side, no one could be against them. King after king, people after people, were utterly destroyed by Joshua and the Israelites. This created a sense of awe and terror in Canaan because of what the Lord was doing for Israel.
If we are on God’s side, like Israel, we will have God fighting for us. His name will be proclaimed to those around us because of the wonders He will accomplish in our lives. If we have God fighting for us, then no worldly force will be able to defeat us. May we remember the words to a song we often sing: “No weapon that’s fashioned against us will stand, the battle belongs to the Lord.”
