Week 18, Day 2 — A minute with the Word
Series: 2024 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the word…
If you want to get an example of what true repentance looks like, you need not look any further than Judges 10.16. The people had once again rebelled against God and were suffering because of it. They cried out to Him to ask for deliverance. God’s reply was direct — “But you have abandoned me and worshipped other idols. Therefore, I will not deliver you again. Go and cry out to the gods you have chosen. Let them deliver you whenever you are oppressed.” (Judges 10.13-14)
The Israelites responded with true repentance. They removed the idols from among them and turned to serve God (Judges 10.16). When we are faced with ‘idols’ in our lives, we too need to take the step of removing them completely from our lives. True repentance is marked by change of action. If we desire to achieve true repentance, we will change our actions, and align our lives with what God says.
