Judges 17.13 — “Now I know that the Lord will be good to me, because a Levite has become my priest.” (CSB)
The attitude that Micah had is a dangerous attitude to have. He believed that because a Levite had agreed to stay with him and be his priest, that would somehow convey God’s blessing to him. Never mind his breaking of the first two of the 10 commandments given at Mount Sinai in Exodus 20.3-6. Just because we try and attach God to something does not mean that God approves. God had told His people how they were to worship Him and how they were to live. Micah wanted to live by his own rules and regulations, and he thought God would be pleased because a Levite said yes to his offer. If we want to know what God is pleased with, read Scripture. Let’s see what He has to say about a certain matter, instead of speaking for Him.
