Week 23, Day 2 — 1 Chronicles 14-16
Series: 2024 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
David had learned from his earlier sin, and now the ark was brought to Jerusalem “according to the rule” (1 Chronicles 15.13), i.e. “the Levites carried the ark of God on their shoulders with the poles, as Moses had commanded according to the word of the LORD” (verse 15). Consider some of the words which frequently appear in this narrative — prepared, consecrated, joy, singers, music, sacrifice, rejoicing, celebrating, offerings, invoke, thanks, praise, glory, remember, sing, declare, ascribe, and bless. These words describe David’s, the Levites’, and the people’s response to the Lord’s presence (as signified by the ark). Do we respond similarly the Lord’s presence, into which we are privileged to enter, both individually (Hebrews 4.14-16) and collectively (Hebrews 10.19-25)?
