Week 26, Day 3 — 1 Kings 6, 2 Chronicles 3
Series: 2024 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the word…
In the account of the building of the Temple in 2 Chronicles 3, we are given the location of where the Temple was constructed. It was built on Mount Moriah, in Jerusalem. This is not only the place where an angel of the Lord appeared to David in 1 Chronicles 21.15, 18, 28, but also potentially the same place that Abraham was going to sacrifice his son Isaac (Genesis 22.1-18). This place would become the center of Israelite worship to God and would stand until its destruction in the year 586 BC when the Babylonians destroyed Jerusalem. As we read about today, and will continue to read about tomorrow, notice how intricate and beautiful and grand the Temple was. This building does not compare with how beautiful and grand Heaven is — but the Temple nonetheless was a wonderful and majestic building fit for a wonderful and majestic heavenly King — God.
