Week 31, Day 2 — Amos 4-6
Series: 2024 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
“The Lord…is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance” (2 Peter 3.9), and Amos 4.6-13 provide evidence of that long-suffering and compassion. These verses list specific divine judgments brought upon Israel (approximately eight), all in hopes of bringing them to repentance; but five times in these verses the Lord says, “yet you did not return to me” (verses 6, 8, 9, 10, 11). “Therefore,” the Lord said, “thus I will do to you, O Israel; because I will do this to you, prepare to meet your God, O Israel!” (verse 12). Indeed the Lord is patient, but not indefinitely so.
