Week 31, Day 4 — A minute with the Word
Series: 2024 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
Whoredom, harlotry, fornication, adultery — these are the painful terms with which the Lord described Israel’s behavior toward Himself. Like Hosea’s living parable, i.e. his marriage to Gomer, the Lord had taken to Himself a wife (Israel) whose heart was never fully given to Him. Despite her marriage and childbearing, her faithless heart prevailed; so she abandoned her loving, merciful, providing husband for the shameful life of prostitution. But as the ever-loving husband, He sought her again, rescued her from her vile lifestyle, and restored her to His home and as His wife. Truly the only thing more astounding than Israel’s treachery is the Lord’s grace.
