Week 32, Day 2 — A minute with the Word
Series: 2024 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
Hosea’s prophetic work came late in Israel’s history, perhaps as the last of God’s messengers to the northern kingdom, just prior to their Assyrian captivity. So long under the reign of wicked kings like Jeroboam and Ahab, Israel’s moral and spiritual decline had been consistent, and Hosea’s message was unmistakably clear — judgment was coming. But even in the midst of His almost unrelenting indictment, the Lord sounds this plea: “Sow for yourselves righteousness; reap steadfast love; break up your fallow ground, for it is the time to seek the LORD, that he may come and rain righteousness upon you” (10.12). Make no mistake, God “desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth” (1 Timothy 2.4).
