Week 34, Day 2 — A minute with the Word
Series: 2024 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
In the days of Isaiah, political and military powers came and went, the latest always boasting of their superiority over their predecessors. So-called wise men offered their advice, so-called gods competed for adoration, self-serving rulers led nations into virtually unceasing warfare, earthly kingdoms rose and fell, injustice and wickedness prevailed. But Isaiah also spoke of the day when “a child” (the least powerful and least likely) would rise to rule, whose name would be called “Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9.6), and whose just and righteous reign would never end (verse 7). Praise God, “The zeal of the LORD of hosts [has done] this” (verse 7) in Jesus Christ!
