Week 35, Day 3 — Isaiah 26-27
Series: 2024 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
In Isaiah 5, the Lord described “the house of Israel, and the men of Judah” (verse 7) as His vineyard that “yielded [only] wild [or worthless] grapes,” despite His abundant provisions (verse 2). He asked, “What more was there to do for my vineyard, that I have not done in it?” (verse 4), so the Lord removed His protection and care, and the vineyard became a “waste” (verse 6). But that judgment was not the end of the vineyard’s story! “In that day, ‘A pleasant vineyard, sing of it! I, the LORD, am its keeper; every moment I water it. Lest anyone punish it, I keep it night and day; I have no wrath… let them make peace with me.’ In days to come Jacob shall take root, Israel shall blossom and put forth shoots and fill the whole world with fruit” (Isaiah 27.2-6). And today we reap and eat of that vineyard!
