Series: 2024 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
When threatened by their enemies, Judah turned to virtually everyone and everything — diplomacy, bribery, and military alliances— except the Lord. Destruction, tumult, and weeping resulted (Isaiah 33.1-9); but the Lord offered to be “the stability of [their] times, abundance of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge; the fear of the LORD [could be] Zion’s treasure” (33.6). And when they finally allowed Him to save (33.10-24), as only He could, “Behold Zion…an untroubled habitation…there the LORD in majesty will be for us a place of broad rivers and streams…” (33.20-21) Why? “For the LORD is our judge; the LORD is our lawgiver; the LORD is our king; he will save us” (33.22).
