Week 37, Day 3 — Isaiah 42-43

Series: 2024 Bible Reading

And now, a minute with the Word…

Lest Israel or Judah misinterpret their circumstances, Isaiah 42-43 offered some powerful reminders. First, God was not ignoring them, rather they had ignored God. Second, neither Assyrian nor Babylonian threats, nor their coming captivity, were their real problem — sin was. Third, only He who has the power to create also has the power to save — no foreign power nor crafted idol, all of which are equally the products of men, could possibly have such power. Fourth, God’s grace can only be truly appreciated when contrasted with the dire consequences of sin and the inevitability of judgment for those sins. Lest we misinterpret our circumstances, “He who has an ear, let him hear” (Revelation 2.7, et al).
