Week 38, Day 1 — Isaiah 48-49
Series: 2024 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
Judah’s punishment by Babylon and their 70 years of captivity would prompt them to say, “The LORD has forsaken me; my Lord has forgotten me” (Isaiah 49.14); but the Lord responds, “Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you. Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are continually before me” (verses 15-16). The Lord who had promised, protected, and provided for their formation as a nation would also rescue, return, and rebuild them, because from their remnant the Messiah was yet to come.
