Series: 2024 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
“Listen to me” (Isaiah 51.1). “Give attention to me, my people, and give ear to me, my nation” (verse 4). “Listen to me” (verse 7). “Wake yourself, wake yourself, stand up, O Jerusalem” (verse 17). “Therefore hear this” (verse 21). To what was their attention called? What comfort was offered? How could they be assured of God’s good intentions for their future, even in the midst of their present and forthcoming judgment? God’s faithfulness to the Abrahamic promises (verses 1-2), and His power demonstrated in the exodus (verse 10) and creation (verses 12-16), give evidence of His ability and desire to do good for His people. “Thus says your Lord, the LORD, your God who pleads the cause of his people” (verse 22).
