Zephaniah prophesied that judgment was coming upon all wickedness, but God would have a remnant of faithful people. The wicked would be purged but the meek and humble would be left to inherit. ““At that time I will bring you in, at the time when I gather you together; for I will make you renowned and praised among all the peoples of the earth, when I restore your fortunes before your eyes,” says the Lord.” (Chapter 3, Verse 20) Similarly, God called a spiritual remnant, “Simeon [Peter] has related how God first visited the Gentiles, to take from them a people for His name.” (Acts 15:14) and “And Isaiah cries out concerning Israel: “Though the number of the sons of Israel be as the sand of the sea, only a remnant of them will be saved, for the Lord will carry out his sentence upon the earth fully and without delay.”” (Romans 9:27-28)
