Week 41, Day 2 — Jeremiah 3-4
Series: 2024 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
In chapter 4, God’s people are called to return to God. “If you return, O Israel, declares the Lord, to Me you should return. If you remove your detestable things from My presence, and do not waver, and if you swear, ‘As the Lord lives,’ in truth, in justice, and in righteousness, then the nations shall bless themselves in Him, and in Him shall they glory.” (verses 1-2) This call went out to Israel, with all tribes and both kingdoms in mind (chapter 3). Just as these people during Old Testament times were called to put away their idols, James instructed New Testament believers in Christ to put away all sin, “Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.” (James 1:21)
