Week 43, Day 5 — A minute with the Word
Series: 2024 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
The grace and patience of God is incredible. 2 Chronicles 36 begins by describing king after king who did evil in God’s eyes. Yet in verse 15 it says, “And the LORD God of their fathers sent warnings to them by His messengers, rising up early and sending them, because He had compassion on His people and on His dwelling place. But they mocked the messengers of God, despised His words, and scoffed at His prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against His people, till there was no remedy.” God loves his people so much that he would have compassion for years and years because he wants them to succeed, but God’s compassion will be replaced by wrath eventually. Romans 2:4 says, “Or do you despise the riches of his kindness, restraint, and patience, not recognizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance? Because of your hardened and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of wrath, when God’s righteous judgment is revealed.”
