Week 44, Day 5 — Jeremiah 50-51
Series: 2024 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
Jeremiah 50.18-19 — “Therefore, thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I am bringing punishment on the king of Babylon and his land, as I punished the king of Assyria. I will restore Israel to his pasture, and he shall feed on Carmel and in Bashan, and his desire shall be satisfied on the hills of Ephraim and in Gilead.” (ESV)
God would fulfill this in the Medo-Persian empire. The Babylonians, for all their strength and might, would fall to another nation not even a century into their dominion over the ancient Middle East. Just as they had treated the other nations around them, they too would suffer the same fate (Habakkuk 2.6-20). In so doing, God promised to restore Israel and they once again would feed in lush pastures. God longs to restore His people to Himself and He wants to be restored to us day by day. Let us heed the words that God has spoken to us by His Son (Hebrews 1.2) and live a life that is pleasing to Him.
