Week 45, Day 2 — Ezekiel 4-6
Series: 2024 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
Despite the several years that some had already spent in Babylon and their apparent expectation of a speedy return to Judah, Ezekiel brought a message of greater judgment that was yet to come, especially upon Jerusalem — siege, scarcity, famine, pestilence, sword, and scattering. Like Hosea, Isaiah, and Jeremiah (each in their own ways), Ezekiel was called to live out his message, communicating visually what Judah and Jerusalem were about to experience. As the Lord said, “I will stretch out my hand against them . . . Then they will know that I am the LORD” (Ezekiel 6.17). That last phrase appears 72 times in Ezekiel. They had ignored God too long, and He would not allow it to continue.
