Week 52, Day 3 — Nehemiah 10-11
Series: 2024 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
In chapter 10, the priests, leaders and Levites placed their seal on the written agreement to serve God faithfully. Nehemiah is named among those who signed the covenant. The rest of the people “join with their brothers, their nobles, and enter into a curse and an oath to walk in God's Law that was given by Moses the servant of God, and to observe and do all the commandments of the Lord our Lord and his rules and his statutes.” (verse 29) Nehemiah and the people were renewing the same covenant established with God since the days at Mount Sinai. These people, who had returned from captivity, knew that God was just and faithful; and that they had been disobedient. Paul penned in 1 Corinthians 1:9, “God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.”
