Series: 2025 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
In chapter 9, wisdom prepared an elaborate house and extravagant feast and generously invites all to come, especially those that lack sense and are inexperienced. Wisdom implores that they leave their ways and walk in the way of understanding. (verses 1-6) One identifies as either wise man or scoffer by how they regard instruction. The wise listens to instruction, becomes wiser and profits from it; however, the scoffer learns nothing and pays the price. (verses 7-12) Similarly, in James chapter 3, he wrote “Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom.” (verse 13) He contrasts earthly with heavenly wisdom, and states “the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.” (verse 17)
