Week 1, Day 5 — A minute with the Word
Series: 2025 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
Chapter 10 begins by contrasting a wise son with a foolish son. “A wise son makes a glad father, but a foolish son is a sorrow to his mother.” (verse 1) Then, a comparison is made of a hard-working son with a lazy son. “He who gathers in summer is a prudent son, but he who sleeps in harvest is a son who brings shame.” (verse 5) These chapters also contain several contrasts made between the yields of righteousness and wickedness. In chapter 11, verse 19, the wise man wrote “Whoever is steadfast in righteousness will live, but he who pursues evil will die.” Similarly, James penned “Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.” (James 1:12)
