Week 2, Day 4 — Proverbs 18-19
Series: 2025 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
Another of the Proverbs’ oft repeated contrasts appears in chapter 18 — “A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion” (verse 2), versus “An intelligent heart acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge” (verse 15). It is only a foolish person who thinks he knows it all, believes he has all the answers, or considers himself the smartest man in the room — especially regarding spiritual concerns, “For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been his counselor?” (Romans 11.34). Instead, “Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God” (James 1.19-20).
