Week 3, Day 4 — A minute with the Word
Series: 2025 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
The wise man wrote in chapter 29, verse 1 “He who is often reproved, yet stiffens his neck, will suddenly be broken beyond healing.” This proverb speaks of the stubborn attitude that continually resists and disobeys God, resulting in swift destruction without remedy. Similar advice and warning are given in Proverbs 1:24-31. “Since you disregard all my advice and do not accept my rebuke” (verse 25), “when calamity overtakes you like a storm, when disaster sweeps over you like a whirlwind, when distress and trouble overwhelm you.” (verse 27). The result is “they will call to me but I will not answer; they will look for me but will not find me, since they hated knowledge and did not choose to fear the Lord.” (verses 27-28) Likewise, in Matthew 7:21-23 Jesus speaks of those who call Him ‘Lord’ but do not follow His teachings, resulting in rejection from God on Judgment Day. This echoes that ignoring God’s warnings will lead to consequences without remedy.
