And now, a minute with the Word…

The comfort during affliction in verse 50 is that God’s promise gives life. What is God’s promise to me? There are a few places I can turn to in scripture that tell me what God promises to do for those who are faithful to Him — 1 Thessalonians 4.13-18, Revelation 2.10, 2.24-27, and John 14.1-3. When I am going through a rough time I need to think on God’s promise of eternal life to the faithful. I am reminded of the lyrics to the hymn “When I Go Home”. The final verse reads: If the trial I endure and your presence I can’t find, be near me, Lord, I pray, bring back into my mind that your promises are firm and I’m never on my own. Every tear wiped away when I go home.
