Week 4, Day 5 — Psalm 119.65-80
Series: 2025 Bible ReadingAnd now, a minute with the Word…
The idea of the Law of God’s mouth being more valuable than gold or silver shows up in other psalms. Most notable to me is Psalm 19.7-10. God’s words should be more valuable to me than anything in this world, especially money. However, this might more difficult for us to grasp in 21st century America. Do I truly value God’s word more than anything else, or do I treat them as valuable on Sunday and most Wednesdays, but that’s it? One man who asked Jesus what he needed to do to inherit eternal life walked away from Jesus sorrowful because he was unwilling to part with his many possessions and his riches. Learn from that man’s mistake and choose to value God’s words above all else.
Luke 18.22-23 — “When Jesus heard this, He said to him, “One thing you still lack. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come follow me.” But when he heard these things, he became very sad, for he was extremely rich.” (ESV)
