Week 8, Day 5 — Psalm 14

Series: 2025 Bible Reading

And now, a minute with the Word…

In the ancient Hebrew, the idea of someone being considered a fool was more times than not a moral indictment than an intellectual one. In his heart, the fool says there is no God (Psalm 14.1). Why is that? Because God judges the deeds of the wicked (Ecclesiastes 12.14) and someone who wants to do what they want to do with no judgment or repercussions wants to make God go away. The apostle John wrote this in his account of the Gospel: “For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed.” (John 3.20 - ESV) Do not listen to the words of the fool. God exists, and he rewards those who seek Him (Hebrews 11.6b).
